Making money from your website...

Thanks everyone for your comments and posts to this thread! I do think it's important to know what others are making financially from their online ventures. As Terri (amberstar) mentioned, there are many sites (and braggers) telling us larger-than-life stories about making thousands of dollars a month, that sometimes you wonder if it's really true!

Some of us struggle to design and implement websites in our spare time, apart from family and work responsibilities. Others are into their websites full time. We all know that there is really good money to be made via the internet, but it takes a lot of research, hard work, a bit of money, determination and an ability to wade through good/bad information.

I'm guessing that those who sell sex on the 'net are probably making more money than the average website. For those of us who don't want to go down that path, it helps to understand how others, in the same boat as myself, are doing with traditional websites.

(And my friendly response to dennyboy about the question being tacky...it wasn't meant to be tacky. In starting any type of business, a person would want to know how much money could be made. Would it make sense to start an online business, design and host a website, and THEN ask if there's money to be made? The answers received in the thread have been honest and upfront, no bragging. The poll is anonymous. If you thought it was tacky and could lead to bragging, then why did you answer the way you did? A little explanation as to why $500/day is your break-even point would have helped a great deal to understand the expenses involved in running a profitable website. Get my drift? )
