The movie 'Boiler Room' (a salesman's classic film) has one of the best scenes ever having to do with a telemarketer!
*Basic premis -
Guy calls main character (who's a salesman that sells junk stock over the phone for millions)
Guy calls says he want's to sell him a newspaper sub, to the NY times, (was a weak sales call) - Main char: "What that's it? that's all you've got? You've got to get excited, tell me why I need your product, what problem is it going to solve for me? Why should I buy it from you and not someone else?"
telemarketer (getting excited about making a sale) : Allright you need this cause bla bla bla yada yada yada....
This goes on for a few minutes then the main char, says Awesome! you've got it, telemarketer: so you want the subscription?
main char: Nope already get the times... (hangs up)
OMG that still makes me laugh just thinking about it and being an ex sales trainer / sales manager
