Does Neiman Marcus have ads in their store extolling the virtues of Saks 5th Avenue?

Will someone attempt to explain the logic of this to me?

What does make sense to me is if I have an informational site - on which I am selling nothing - and visitors click on compatible websites. This is what I have in my future plans.

I no longer have any dating sites but I would not want other content writers ads on my content writing site.
You can block ads from your competitor's sites. You enter their url somewhere.
