I have had a similar experience to wrmineo on this subject, I am affilliated to about ten other schemes but basically if you have affilliate banners on your site you are merely giving them free advertising, unless you get paid per click, like you do with Google!
One of the biggest DIY stores in the UK was an affilliate on my site (B&Q) their site DIY.com gets lots of traffic, I had some of their banners on my site and then I woke up and smelt the coffee. Most people would come to my site see the link and click on it, check the price and then drive to the nearest store and buy it so basically you are just giving them free advertising and a free one way link!
Google all the way for me, it seems to work well on my site! |
