| Delta has lounges to make money.
I'm not saying this will happen, but kinda worse-case-senarioish. I'm a member of the 172nd largest forum on the net, have been for just over 2 years and I have 10,000 posts on it. Around a year and a half ago they introduced a subscribers feature where if you paid 5 pounds per month then you got a few extra perks around the forum and access to a few private forums for subscribers only. Before long this got to be pretty popular and moved beyond the original few who where willing to pay. When regular joe members started filing in, what do you think that found? Almost a whole forum filled with private complaints about many members. In fact, the most popular thread on the whole forum at that time was in this private forum and it mostly complaints about members, thousands and thousands of posts complaining about members and what was going on in the forum. It caused all kinds of trouble when it got out what was happening in there. It caused controversy for weeks because what the administration had done was create an elite society that everyone couldn't get to. Obviously this is amplified by how large that forum is, but it is still something to consider. If you go ahead with this, just make sure you're careful with what you let go on in there. |
