| Thinking about Total Web Talk and its direction, I've always considered TWT as being a resource site for webmasters, SEO, domain names, etc. It has grown from its humble beginnings until now as a respected, by-the-book forum, where all can share their opinions, thoughts, techniques, praise and criticism. It has always been a friendly, professional place, a place where many feel at home.
I have always been a conservative type of person and certain areas I don't care to dabble in. Sexual content, porn, swearing, dirty jokes... it's just not my cup of tea (or coffee!) Just as I wouldn't allow it in my home, I prefer that my online home not have it either. As others have said, it might change people's perception of the forum. Besides, there are many other forums that are created simply for the "happy hour" content, so why have it here? I come to Total Web Talk for webmaster content.... The present Lounge area is enough for me to have my fun.
So, I'm against it.
However, this is just my opinion, and many others are for the happy hour area. So, if it does happen, I would suggest that it be some type of restriction applied, and that robots shouldn't archive the content. The idea of "by invitation only" sounds good... once you see how people contribute to the rest of the forum, they could be invited to the special area. Age is a concern, so some type of warning should be shown (not that it'll stop anyone, but it will probably cover the legal aspect, I guess).
We should also keep in mind that this forum caters to all types of people. Sexual orientation, age group, females/males, maturity levels, etc. Yes, it'll be a "happy hour" area, just like a bar, to blow off steam, joke around, and chat about anything under the sun. But bar brawls are known to happen, and people can be hurt or offended by the slip of the tongue.
Okay, I guess I made my point... I'll shut up now!
