Should every site have a directory?

Hi,

I have recently been looking at a website script for adding a directory, I think it is one of the scripts that Ne0 has used for one of his directories (correct me if I am wrong) The script is here- http://scripts.site-sift.com/

I am thinking about adding something similar to this to my site as I feel it would be a great way to get plenty of reciprocal links?

The directory could really help the site in a couple of ways-

1. plenty of reciprocal links

2. The directory could include trades people that are looking for work ( this could either work by them swapping links with you or by paying a small fee to be listed in the directory, should they not have a website)

3. Adsense could also be placed in the directory ( not sure if this is possible yet, as I can't seem to find reference to it on their site)

I am not sure as yet if the software checks the reciprocal links on a regular basis or just once, when the link exchange begins?

Any input is most welcome!

Thanks
