| Yes, a name can be a registered trademark (or service mark).
You can register it with the Federal government using the link you
posted and/or you can register a name with your State government.
The State registration is usually less expensive - but it is only good
for your State.
Of course, even if your name is trademarked you may find people
still using it. So, you may still have to contact the offenders
to tell them not to use it... and if they don't, you may have to take
legal action - which can be expensive and a hassle if the offender
is in another State or Country.
