| I don't have a laptop, but for the times that I've borrowed one, portability is the best advantage for me. I can work on stuff at the office, and bring it home with no thought... no need for a USB external drive, flash keydrive, or burning CDs to bring work home.
And once I'm home, I can work in my office downstairs, in the kitchen, or in the living room... where ever the kids aren't... at the moment.
I do agree though, that desktop computers will always have the features, options and power that surpasses laptops, unless you feel like shelling out $5000 for a laptop.
Keep in mind that space can be a factor for some people. I remember one teacher I worked with who had a very small apartment. Space was a factor, and she really didn't have any space to put a desktop computer, keyboard, and monitor anywhere. For her, a laptop was perfect. She could use it in the dining area when she needed to work, then fold it up and slip it into a drawer when she was finished. No clutter at all.
